**New Delhi, January 13, 2025** – A senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, today accused the BJP of allowing Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants to settle across India, holding Union Home Minister Amit Shah responsible. Singh’s statement follows the issuance of notices to AAP MLA Mohinder Goyal over alleged links to a syndicate providing illegal immigrants with Aadhaar and voter ID cards.
Singh alleged that the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Foreign Minister – all from the BJP – have facilitated the settlement of these migrants over the past 10.5 years for electoral gain. He questioned how these migrants crossed borders and reached Delhi, demanding answers on the number deported and the routes taken through states like West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. He also controversially questioned the whereabouts of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, referring to her as the “leader of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas”.
This follows the BJP’s earlier accusations against AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal for his silence on Goyal’s alleged involvement. BJP leader Smriti Irani claimed investigative agencies found signatures of Goyal and another AAP MLA, Jai Bhagwan, on Aadhaar update forms for 26 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Goyal has announced he will file a defamation suit against Irani and BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi. The BJP’s accusations and the AAP’s counter-accusations have intensified the political climate ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.
