**Belagavi, Karnataka, January 12, 2025** – A new interfaith initiative, the Mahila Sadbhavana Manch (Women’s Goodwill Forum), was launched in Belagavi today with the aim of fostering peace, harmony, and women’s empowerment. Over 60 delegates representing various religious groups attended the inaugural ceremony, pledging to work towards a better society.

The event featured a documentary promoting communal harmony and speeches emphasizing the importance of unity and understanding in a diverse India. Speakers highlighted the need to combat hatred, discrimination, and communal violence, advocating for social justice and equality.

Humaira, Assistant Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka, urged society to embrace the vision of a peaceful and united India envisioned by freedom movement leaders. Taskeela, Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka, emphasized the Manch’s commitment to maintaining peace and order while actively working to eradicate societal ills.

Delegates shared personal perspectives, with M.S. Mariamma stressing the importance of united efforts to preserve India’s harmony, and others expressing their commitment to uplifting all members of society. Labor leader Manda Navagi brought attention to the challenges faced by working women, particularly in agriculture and domestic work, highlighting the gap between stated goals of women’s empowerment and the realities of discrimination and harassment.

The Mahila Sadbhavana Manch aims to create a platform for women from diverse backgrounds to collaborate towards a brighter and more unified future. The initiative underscores a growing movement in India promoting interfaith dialogue and cooperation for social progress.
