Sat Jan 11 11:36:28 UTC 2025: ## Iran Shows Off Missile Base, Holds Military Parade Amidst Tensions with Israel and US

**Tehran, Iran –** Iran showcased its military might on Friday, January 10th, 2025, with a televised tour of an underground missile base and a large military parade in Tehran. The demonstrations followed recent conflicts in the region and come days before the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

State television aired footage of the Revolutionary Guards’ commander, Hossein Salami, inspecting the undisclosed mountain base, which reportedly houses numerous missile types and was used in Iran’s recent attack on Israel. This attack, launched in October 2024, was in retaliation for the deaths of Iranian-aligned militants and a Revolutionary Guards general.

Thousands of Basij fighters, a paramilitary force linked to the Revolutionary Guards, participated in the Tehran parade, displaying heavy weaponry and vehicles including rocket launchers and artillery. Coffins decorated with Israeli flags were paraded, alongside Hezbollah, Iranian, and Palestinian flags.

Senior Guards commanders used the occasion to condemn the United States, blaming it for problems in the Muslim world, and vow to destroy the “Zionist regime” and remove US bases from the region. The parade was also presented as a show of support for Palestine and a demonstration of readiness to counter threats to the Islamic revolution.

The displays of military power follow the weakening of Iran’s allies, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, during recent wars with Israel, adding to the already tense geopolitical situation. The timing, just days before President-elect Trump’s inauguration, is particularly significant given his past actions towards Iran, including the assassination of Qasem Soleimani and the re-imposition of sanctions.
