**Mumbai, India** – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the dates for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The tournament will commence on March 21st and conclude on May 25th with the final match slated for Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla confirmed the dates following a special general meeting (SGM) in Mumbai. While initial reports suggested a March 23rd start, a senior member of the governing council clarified the tournament’s opening day as March 21st. This follows the 2024 IPL, which ran from March 22nd to May 26th.

The announcement comes after the IPL 2025 mega auction, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, saw 182 players sold for a total of ₹639.15 crore. Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history, fetching ₹27 crore. Notable players like David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, and Shardul Thakur remained unsold.

The SGM also saw the election of Devajit Saikia as the new BCCI secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as the treasurer. Further decisions included finalizing venues for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and appointing a new IPL commissioner for a one-year term. The next BCCI meeting, scheduled for January 18-19, will focus on selecting the final team for the Champions Trophy.
