**NEW DELHI, January 12, 2025** – Four men were arrested in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, on Saturday for illegal possession of a pair of rare white rhinoceros horns, police announced. Deepak Sharma (57), Suresh Kumar (57), Sant Ram (57), and Anil Kumar Sethi (60) were apprehended following a sting operation where undercover officers posed as buyers. The horns, allegedly sourced from an African rhinoceros and possessed by Sharma’s family for over 90 years, were seized after a deal was struck for ₹1 crore (approximately $1.2 million USD). Sharma, facing financial difficulties due to COVID-19 related business losses and debt, reportedly partnered with Suresh Kumar to sell the horns. All four men have been charged under the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act and other relevant sections of the law.
