**AUBURN, AL** – In a stunning announcement during the Navy All-American Bowl, highly touted wide receiver Devin Carter, a member of the On300 2026 class, committed to Auburn University. The 6-foot, 165-pound prospect from Douglasville, Georgia, is ranked as the nation’s No. 6 receiver and No. 43 overall prospect by On3 Industry Rankings.
Carter chose Auburn over a list of powerhouse programs including Alabama, LSU, and Ohio State. He cited Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze and receivers coach Marcus Davis’s vision for the program as key factors in his decision. Carter was impressed by the team’s recent recruiting success, particularly at the quarterback position, and believes Auburn is building something special.
“That’s the program for me because of what Coach Freeze is doing…I feel like they’re developing something special over there,” Carter stated. He also praised the coaching staff’s family-like atmosphere and the exciting game atmosphere.
The commitment marks Auburn’s sixth for the 2026 recruiting class, boosting their national ranking. Carter, known for his smooth route running, sure hands, and ability to make plays after the catch, is expected to be a significant contributor to the Tigers’ offense. His father, Dexter Carter, played for Florida State before becoming an NFL first-round draft pick.
Auburn’s recruiting efforts also benefited from the efforts of Kenyatta Watson, who played a key role in attracting the young star. Carter will make a return trip to Auburn on January 25th.
