BELAGAVI, KARNATAKA – Police in Bagalkot, Karnataka have filed a case against 12 members of the Sri Ram Sene (SRS) for allegedly conducting illegal rifle training. The training, which involved approximately 196 young people, reportedly took place on the final day of a week-long personality development program held in Todalabagi village in late December.
The case was initiated following a complaint from the Bengaluru-based NGO, All India Association for Justice, after a video of the training surfaced online. Bagalkot police stated that the landowner claimed to be unaware of the rifle training component of the program. Superintendent of Police Amarnath Reddy confirmed the investigation is underway.
SRS founder Pramod Mutalik countered the allegations, claiming that only air guns were used and that the training is an annual event aimed at promoting nationalism and patriotism among youth aged 20-30. The investigation is ongoing.
