Fri Jan 10 01:11:04 UTC 2025: ## California Mobilizes 140 Water Tankers to Battle Unprecedented LA Fires
**SACRAMENTO, CA** – Governor Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday that California is deploying up to 140 water tanker trucks, each carrying 2,500 gallons of water, to bolster firefighting efforts against the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires in Los Angeles. This significant increase in water supply supplements the 23 tankers already on the ground, adding crucial support to the more than 7,500 firefighting and emergency personnel battling the blazes.
The deployment comes as the state grapples with unprecedented fire conditions. Governor Newsom secured a Major Disaster Declaration from President Biden earlier this week, unlocking federal emergency funds and resources to aid in the response. The state began prepositioning resources on Sunday, proactively anticipating the severity of the situation.
“California is mobilizing additional water tenders to support the ongoing battle against these unprecedented Los Angeles fires,” Governor Newsom stated. “We’re working closely with our local and federal partners to identify and fill gaps in real-time. Our number one priority is protecting Californians — this additional water transport is critical in our fight.”
Tankers began arriving at fire incident command posts late Wednesday, with additional deployments continuing throughout the night. For real-time updates on the fires, visit fire.ca.gov.
