**TIRUCHI, January 9, 2025** – Ten fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on Wednesday, January 8th, for allegedly poaching in Sri Lankan waters. The group, comprised of four fishermen from Karaikal, five from Mayiladuthurai, and one from Nagapattinam, had departed from Karaikal harbor on January 7th in a mechanized boat. They were apprehended along with their vessel and taken to Sri Lanka for questioning. The Fisheries Department in Karaikal is currently working to confirm the identities of the arrested fishermen.
