Wed Jan 08 14:07:21 UTC 2025: ## NTK Functionary Arrested for Online Defamation of CM Stalin’s Daughter
**Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu – January 8, 2025** – A Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) functionary, A. Tamilarasan, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly posting defamatory comments online about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s daughter, Senthamarai.
Tamilarasan, who works in Bahrain, was apprehended by immigration officials at Mumbai airport last week upon his return to India. The comments, reportedly made in October 2023 following Senthamarai’s visit to the Sattainathar Temple in Sirkazhi, were posted on social media. He is associated with the NTK’s IT wing.
A complaint filed by the DMK’s IT wing led to the registration of a case against Tamilarasan under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act and Section 505-1B of the IPC (actions intended to incite fear or alarm) by the Mayiladuthurai Cyber Crime Police. A lookout circular was subsequently issued for his arrest.
Superintendent of Police G. Stalin confirmed that after his detention in Mumbai, Tamilarasan was brought before a court and then transferred to Mayiladuthurai. He was remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday and is currently incarcerated in the Mayiladuthurai district jail. Authorities also revealed that Tamilarasan faces another cybercrime case in Chennai, filed in 2024, and the Chennai Cyber Crime Police have been notified of his arrest.
