TIRUPATI, Andhra Pradesh (January 8, 2025) – The much-anticipated Flamingo Festival 2025 is set to take flight in the Sullurpeta constituency of Tirupati district from January 18-20. This three-day event, last held in 2020, promises a spectacular showcase of biodiversity, attracting birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts from across the region.

Over 200 bird species, including flamingos migrating from Southeast Asia, are expected to grace the Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary and surrounding areas. The festival will span five locations: Nelapattu, B.V. Palem, Atakanithippa, Sri City, and Sullurpeta, offering a range of activities. These include eco-friendly biodiversity sessions in Sri City, birdwatching opportunities at Nelapattu and Atakanithippa, and boating facilities at B.V. Palem. Cultural programs and stalls will be set up at the Government Junior College campus in Sullurpeta.

Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateswar highlighted the government’s investment in infrastructure development for the festival, leveraging the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He emphasized prioritizing local residents and addressing their concerns within the eco-sensitive zone. Officials, including the Sullurpeta MLA, toured the site on Tuesday, ensuring preparations are on track for a successful event. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed the district administration to organize the festival with the grandeur of a state-level event.
