Tue Jan 07 13:41:28 IST 2025: ## Bihar BPSC Protest Intensifies: Prashant Kishor’s Fast Unto Hospitalization, Pappu Yadav Announces Bihar Bandh

PATNA, BIHAR – The protests over the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam irregularities continue to escalate. Prashant Kishor, who began a hunger strike demanding action on behalf of affected students, was hospitalized this morning after his health deteriorated on the sixth day of his fast. An ambulance arrived at his residence, and he was taken to Medanta Hospital, where doctors may recommend admission.

Meanwhile, Purnia MP Pappu Yadav has announced a Bihar bandh on January 12th, following recent road blockades. He also urged participation in a protest organized by the Mahagathbandhan on January 9th.

Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, was briefly detained by police earlier this week but released unconditionally. He stated his fast would continue and a new location would be announced soon. The Supreme Court is set to hear a crucial case today regarding the cancellation of the BPSC’s 70th preliminary exam, including demands for action against police and administrative officials involved in a lathi charge against protesters.

Despite his hospitalization, Kishor’s party has declared its intention to continue the protest and shared a social media post indicating the movement would persevere, using Gandhian ideals as inspiration. Kishor criticized Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav for not actively participating in the student’s cause. A meeting of the Jan Suraj party was called today to determine the next steps of the protest, but was preempted by Kishor’s hospitalization.
