Tue Jan 07 03:10:00 UTC 2025: **Kings Star Point Guard De’Aaron Fox Out Against Warriors Due to Injury**
SACRAMENTO, CA – January 5, 2025 – The Sacramento Kings will be without their star point guard, De’Aaron Fox, for Sunday’s highly anticipated matchup against the Golden State Warriors. Fox suffered a right glute contusion during Friday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The injury occurred after Fox took a hard fall following a collision with Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. Jackson Jr. was assessed a flagrant 1 foul for the play, resulting in his ejection from the game. While Fox was able to walk off the court under his own power, the Kings announced his absence for Sunday’s game following an evaluation.
Fox, who has averaged career-highs of 26.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.6 steals this season, has been a key component of the Kings’ success. His absence will undoubtedly impact the team’s performance against their Northern California rivals.
Interim head coach Doug Christie expressed concern for Fox’s well-being, stating, “It’s super, super unfortunate. You never want to see a player, especially of his caliber, get injured.”
In Fox’s absence, rookie guard Devin Carter, who made his NBA debut Friday, and Keegan Murray, returning from an ankle injury, are expected to see increased playing time. The Kings will look to extend their winning streak to four games despite the loss of their star player.
