Mon Jan 06 15:04:34 UTC 2025: ## Prashant Kishor Released on Unconditional Bail After Brief Jail Stint

**Patna, Bihar:** Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraj, was released on unconditional bail Monday evening, hours after being arrested and briefly jailed. Kishor, who had been on a hunger strike in support of BPSC aspirants, was arrested at 4 am and later sent to judicial custody by the Patna Civil Court. Despite being offered bail on a personal bond of ₹25,000 with conditions, Kishor refused, demanding unconditional release. He was subsequently taken to Beur Jail, but released following the court’s granting of his request.

Addressing a press conference at his Patna residence, Kishor confirmed his release and stated that his hunger strike would continue. He announced a meeting at midnight to determine the location for his continued protest, with details to be released Tuesday.

Kishor’s arrest followed his ongoing hunger strike, which began on January 2nd. His supporters allege police brutality during his arrest, claiming he was slapped and forcibly removed from Gandhi Maidan. Kishor himself alluded to police misconduct during his court appearance. While the court granted bail, it stipulated that Kishor refrain from actions causing further public disruption. This condition was rejected by Kishor, leading to his release without the conditional bail.
