Sun Jan 05 05:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” Overtakes Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” as Spotify’s Most Streamed Song of 2024

**NEW YORK** – In a surprise twist, Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” has been revealed as Spotify’s most-streamed song of 2024, narrowly edging out Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” which was initially declared the top hit.

Initial Spotify Wrapped data incorrectly placed Carpenter’s “Espresso” at number one with over 1.6 billion streams. However, a final tally reveals that Eilish’s track amassed a staggering 1,775,172,881 streams, surpassing “Espresso” by a mere 650,000 listens. Carpenter’s hit clocked in at 1,774,525,704 streams.

“Espresso,” released in April as part of Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet” album, enjoyed massive success, winning Song of the Year at the 2024 MTV VMAs and inspiring several coffee-themed collaborations. Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” from her album “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” was written in the back of an SUV in Brazil, highlighting the song’s unexpected origins.

Both artists are nominated for prestigious awards this year. Eilish received seven Grammy nominations, while Carpenter earned six, with both vying for Record of the Year and Pop Solo Performance of the Year for their respective songs, as well as Album of the Year. Carpenter herself expressed surprise at the success of “Espresso,” stating she wasn’t sure if it would resonate with listeners. Eilish, reflecting on the success of “Birds of a Feather,” expressed amazement at the song’s journey. The close competition between these two chart-topping hits underscores the unpredictable nature of the music industry.
