Sat Jan 04 18:15:15 UTC 2025: ## Kozhikode Launches Ambitious Poverty Eradication Project “Samanvaya”

**Kozhikode, Kerala, January 5, 2025** – Kozhikode Corporation is set to launch “Samanvaya,” a comprehensive pilot project aimed at eradicating extreme poverty and improving the lives of the elderly and differently-abled. The initiative, launching on Kerala Palliative Care Day (January 15th), will integrate services from multiple government departments, community leaders, and the public.

Samanvaya will leverage a new online platform, “Kerala Care,” to register beneficiaries: individuals over 60, bedridden patients, the extremely poor, and the differently-abled. The program offers a wide range of services, including free medicine and food, home healthcare and palliative care, telemedicine, psychological support, transportation, and ambulance services.

A dedicated health team, comprising ASHA workers, anganwadi workers, volunteers, and ward councillors, will monitor the project’s progress at the ward level. Existing palliative care initiatives will be consolidated under Samanvaya, and the project will also utilize the services of professionals and student police cadets.

Corporation Welfare Standing Committee chairman P. Divakaran stated that a mayoral committee will oversee the project’s overall implementation, with ward-level committees (to be established by January 10th) monitoring local activities. Samanvaya represents a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive community in Kozhikode.
