Hyderabad, January 2, 2025 – Former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) paid homage to Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary, Thursday. He lauded her and her husband, Jyotirao Phule, for their tireless work towards the upliftment of marginalized communities and women’s education.
KCR described Savitribai Phule as a visionary who dedicated her life to breaking social barriers and empowering the underprivileged. He highlighted the Phule couple’s contributions to social reform in India, emphasizing their enduring legacy. He stated that the spirit of the Phule couple inspired the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party’s social progress initiatives during its ten years in power.
The former CM noted the BRS government’s various programs aimed at women’s empowerment and education, specifically mentioning the establishment of special gurukuls (residential schools) and colleges to provide quality education to girls across Telangana. He asserted that continuing this work would be the best tribute to the Phule couple’s ideals.
KCR further connected the BRS party’s achievements in uplifting Dalit and Bahujan communities over the past decade to the Phule couple’s vision. He highlighted the progress Telangana has made in various sectors, attributing it in part to the policies inspired by the Phule’s legacy.
