Thu Jan 02 04:03:07 UTC 2025: ## BCCI Expresses Displeasure with Gautam Gambhir’s Support Staff Amidst India’s Struggling Performance

**Sydney, Australia:** The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly expressed its dissatisfaction with the support staff of head coach Gautam Gambhir, following India’s disappointing performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and recent series losses. India is currently trailing 2-1 in the BGT, facing a potential series loss for the first time under Gambhir, a stark contrast to the undefeated records under his predecessors, Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid, against Australia.

The BCCI’s concern stems from allegations of a support staff member and their personal assistant abusing privileges during the tour. This individual, who reportedly enjoyed extensive access, including field-of-play privileges during the IPL, has drawn criticism for their conduct in Australia. While the specific individual remains unnamed, the BCCI is reportedly unhappy with the perceived preferential treatment.

Adding to the concerns is India’s recent string of defeats, including a first ODI series whitewash at home against Sri Lanka in 27 years and the potential loss of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade. Gambhir’s coaching staff includes Morne Morkel, Ryan ten Doeschate, Abhishek Nayar, and T Dilip.

A BCCI source, quoted by PTI, hinted at Gambhir’s precarious position. Unless the team’s performance improves significantly, especially in the upcoming Champions Trophy, and relations between Gambhir and the players are mended, his future as coach may be in jeopardy. The upcoming fifth test match and Champions Trophy will be crucial in determining the fate of Gambhir and his support staff.
