**New Delhi, January 1, 2025** – India and Pakistan have exchanged lists of their nuclear installations for the 34th consecutive year, upholding a 1988 agreement to prevent attacks on each other’s atomic facilities. The exchange, carried out simultaneously through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad, occurred despite currently strained relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the exchange, stating that it adheres to the agreement signed on December 31, 1988, and enacted on January 27, 1991. This annual exchange, first conducted in 1992, is mandated by the pact to ensure transparency and prevent accidental or deliberate targeting of nuclear facilities.

The exchange comes amidst ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan over issues such as Kashmir and cross-border terrorism. Despite these geopolitical challenges, both nations have consistently maintained the agreement, highlighting its importance in managing nuclear risks in the region.
