Wed Jan 01 08:02:10 UTC 2025: ## Atishi Seeks Re-election as Delhi’s Youngest Chief Minister

**New Delhi** – Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, the youngest person to hold the post, has announced her intention to seek re-election from the Kalkaji constituency in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Atishi, who assumed the Chief Ministership following Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation, has a remarkable background and a rapidly ascending political career.

A Rhodes Scholar with degrees from St. Stephen’s College and Oxford University, Atishi, originally named Atishi Marlena (a name reflecting her parents’ communist ideology), initially worked as an education policy advisor for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after joining in 2013. She played a key role in implementing the Happiness Curriculum in Delhi schools. She later dropped “Marlena” from her name following allegations of BJP-led attempts to use it for political gain.

Despite losing the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Atishi secured a resounding victory in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections from Kalkaji. Her prominence grew significantly following the arrest of Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, leading to her appointment as Chief Minister and the assumption of key portfolios including education, finance, and public works. She is only the third woman to serve as Delhi’s Chief Minister.

Atishi’s journey highlights a remarkable rise in Delhi’s political landscape, making her a key figure to watch in the upcoming elections.
