**Belagavi, Karnataka –** Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today unveiled a newly erected statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Veera Soudha memorial in Belagavi, commemorating the 1924 Belgaum Congress session held there. The event also included the inauguration of a renovated park, memorial hall, and library, along with a photo gallery showcasing images from the historic session, including Gandhiji’s speech and the transfer of leadership from Mohammad Ali. The ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar and several ministers.

Earlier in the day, CM Siddaramaiah paid his respects to four Karnataka soldiers killed in a recent accident in Jammu and Kashmir. He laid wreaths on the caskets of Subedar Dayananda Tirakannanvar and Mahesh Marigonda at the Army War Memorial and announced the state government’s full support for the families of the deceased soldiers. The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss and acknowledged the sacrifice of the four soldiers, naming them as Dayanand Tirakannanvar (Belagavi), Dhanraj Subhash (Chikkodi), Mahesh Nagappa (Bagalkot), and Anoop Poojary (Kundapur).
