**Hyderabad, India** – Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issued a strong warning to the Telugu film industry Thursday, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards lawlessness following the tragic stampede at the premiere of “Pushpa 2,” which resulted in one death and several injuries. The meeting, attended by prominent figures including Allu Arjun’s father, Allu Arvind, and Dil Raju, Chair of the state’s Film Development Corporation, came in the wake of the arrest and subsequent bail of actor Allu Arjun.
The Chief Minister stressed that crowd control is a shared responsibility between celebrities and law enforcement. He specifically criticized Allu Arjun’s impromptu appearance at the Sandhya Theatre on December 4th, alleging that the actor’s unscheduled roadshow, against police advice, incited the chaotic scene that led to the death of Revathi and serious injury to her son, Sri Tej.
Police allege that reckless behavior by Allu Arjun’s security personnel exacerbated the stampede. While Allu Arjun’s team claims to have sent prior notification of the actor’s presence, police maintain this notification was insufficient and lacked proper coordination.
Following the incident, the Chief Minister banned benefit shows and special screenings, and also warned private security personnel employed by film stars. Allu Arvind has pledged Rs 2 crore (approximately $240,000 USD) in compensation to the family of the deceased. However, the victim’s husband has indicated he may withdraw the police complaint against Allu Arjun, stating that he doesn’t blame the actor. Allu Arjun himself has denied responsibility, citing misinformation and character assassination. He was arrested and briefly detained before being granted bail. The investigation continues.
