**New Delhi, December 26, 2024** – The Indian government has announced an extension of duty-free and minimum import price (MIP)-free imports of yellow peas until February 2025. This decision, announced late on Christmas Day, aims to ensure sufficient supply of the legume.
However, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has mandated that all imports must be registered under the online Import Monitoring System. This registration is effective immediately and applies to all consignments with Bills of Lading (Shipped on Board) issued on or before February 28, 2025. The import of yellow peas will be free from both duties and minimum import price restrictions, and there will be no port restrictions, subject to the online registration requirement.
