Wed Dec 25 07:53:19 UTC 2024: ## Tamil Nadu to Conduct State Eligibility Test (SET) Through Teachers Recruitment Board
**Chennai, December 25, 2024** – The Tamil Nadu government has announced that the State Eligibility Test (SET) for teachers will be conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), ensuring transparency and adherence to University Grants Commission (UGC) ethics. Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan stated that the TRB possesses the necessary administrative and infrastructural capabilities to conduct the test, either online or offline, with the involvement of university teachers. The decision follows the UGC’s outsourcing of the National Eligibility Test (NET) to the National Testing Agency (NTA), prompting the state to take control of the SET process. Previously, a designated university held the responsibility for conducting the SET for three-year periods. While the minister initially advised the TRB to seek UGC permission, the announcement confirms the state’s commitment to managing the SET independently.
