Wed Dec 25 08:24:54 UTC 2024: ## Telangana to Begin Construction of 20 Lakh Indiramma Houses by Sankranti
**Hyderabad, Dec 25, 2024** – The Telangana government plans to commence construction of 20 lakh Indiramma houses by Sankranti (harvest festival), according to Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy. Addressing a review meeting on Tuesday, Minister Reddy stated that the verification of 80,000 applications for the houses will be completed by the first week of January, following which beneficiaries will be selected. Over 32 lakh applications have already been verified.
To address public grievances, a dedicated grievance redressal wing, complete with a toll-free number and website, will be established within a week. Construction guidelines will also be released shortly. Each district will have a project director (executive engineer cadre) to oversee construction.
The minister emphasized that 4.5 lakh houses will be constructed annually for four years. Landowners will be prioritized for the scheme, irrespective of ration card status. Selection of beneficiaries will be handled by village-level Indiramma Committees. Construction will also resume on incomplete houses left over from the previous government’s tenure.
