Tue Dec 24 15:40:00 UTC 2024: **North Texas Hit by Christmas Eve Flash Flooding, More Storms on the Way**
**Fort Worth, TX** – Parts of North Texas experienced flash flooding on Christmas Eve due to heavy rainfall, prompting Flash Flood Warnings for northern Tarrant County and parts of Parker County. FOX 4 meteorologist Evan Andrews reported that over 1.5 inches of rain had already fallen in some areas by morning.
While Tuesday’s storms brought significant rainfall and the possibility of small hail and gusty winds, the severe weather risk remained low. The day saw heavier rain east and south of the Metroplex as a cold front moved through. Christmas morning brought mild temperatures near 50 degrees but with high humidity and cloud cover.
However, a more significant weather system is expected to arrive on Thursday, bringing the potential for much more severe weather. Andrews warned of storms with hail up to the size of quarters and winds exceeding 50 mph. The highest risk of severe weather may be in East and Southeast Texas due to elevated storm conditions. These storms are expected to clear by the afternoon.
A less impactful weather system is predicted for Friday, with limited moisture. Temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-60s under partly sunny skies and a slight chance of showers. The weekend will see warmer temperatures, potentially reaching the 70s by Sunday and Monday, despite a quick cold front passing through on Saturday.
