**Chennai, India** – Vijay Sethupathi’s latest film, *Viduthalai Part 2*, directed by Vetri Maaran, enjoyed a successful opening weekend, grossing an estimated ₹7 crore net domestically on its release day (December 20th). The crime-thriller, an adaptation of Jeyamohan’s short story *Thunaivan*, saw strong occupancy rates across Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh/Telangana. Tamil occupancy reached 32.30%, while Telugu screenings achieved 18.05% occupancy.
The film, which features a large ensemble cast including Soori Muthuchamy, Manju Warrier, and Anurag Kashyap, saw particularly strong performance in Pondicherry and Trichy (57.67% Tamil 2D occupancy) with Chennai close behind at 44%. Karimnagar led Telugu screenings with 70% occupancy.
