Hyderabad, December 20, 2024 – The Telangana Assembly witnessed a heated exchange between Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and BRS MLA Harish Rao on Thursday. The altercation occurred during question hour when Minister Reddy posed a question, prompting Rao to intervene.
Rao questioned the propriety of one minister questioning another, asserting that it was against assembly tradition and would distort the question-and-answer session. This led to a sharp retort from Minister Reddy, who demanded to know in what capacity Rao was addressing the assembly – as BRS deputy leader or as an MLA. Reddy further criticized the absence of the main opposition leader from the assembly for a year, calling it an insult to the people. Reddy’s question concerned the water problems faced by Nalgonda district residents, citing issues with fluoride contamination and inadequate access to Musi river water. He also accused the previous government of deliberately abandoning 70% complete projects initiated during the Congress regime.
In response, Rao highlighted the BRS government’s provision of Kaleshwaram water to Nalgonda and suggested a debate on the matter. It’s noteworthy that the BRS had filed a complaint with Speaker Prasad Kumar on Wednesday alleging inappropriate remarks by Minister Komatireddy against Rao during the previous day’s session.
