Sat Dec 21 11:39:51 UTC 2024: ## Kia Syros: New Sub-4m SUV Aims for 5-Star Safety Rating
**New Delhi, December 21, 2024** – Kia has unveiled its newest SUV for the Indian market, the Syros, a sub-4 meter vehicle slotting between the Sonet and Seltos. Expected to launch in January 2025 with a starting price of ₹9 lakh (ex-showroom), the Syros boasts a comprehensive safety suite, potentially making it the first Kia in India to achieve a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
Built on a reinforced K1 platform (also used in Hyundai models like the Grand i10 Nios and Exter), the Syros offers impressive safety features even in its base variant. This includes six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Higher trims add all-four disc brakes, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) with 16 autonomous driving aids such as forward collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control.
While Kia hasn’t officially announced a crash test timeline, industry experts expect the Syros to be submitted to Bharat NCAP soon. Its robust safety features strongly suggest a potential 5-star rating, setting a new benchmark for Kia in India. The Syros will compete with other popular subcompact and compact SUVs in a similar price range including models from Tata, Maruti Suzuki, and Hyundai.
