Fri Dec 20 18:58:03 UTC 2024: ## 14 Achieve Perfect 100 Percentile in CAT 2024; Results Announced

**New Delhi:** The results of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 were released on December 19th. A remarkable 14 candidates achieved a perfect 100 percentile score, with 13 of them hailing from engineering backgrounds. The CAT exam, held on November 24th, saw 2.93 lakh candidates out of 3.29 lakh registered participants take the test. The results are available on the official IIM CAT website, iimcat.ac.in.

A key difference between CAT score and percentile is highlighted. The percentile indicates the percentage of candidates who scored below a particular candidate. For example, a 60 percentile means the candidate outperformed 60% of the test-takers. A simple formula is provided to calculate percentile:

**(100 x Number of candidates scoring less than a given candidate) / Total number of candidates**

The CAT score, on the other hand, represents the total marks obtained (out of 300), reflecting performance across Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA) sections. Many students are reportedly facing difficulties accessing their percentile despite the result announcement. The CAT cutoff will determine admission to top Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
