Sat Dec 21 02:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru Metro’s Purple and Yellow Lines Face Further Delays
**Bengaluru, India (December 21, 2024)** – The much-anticipated expansion of Bengaluru’s metro system continues to face delays, with both the Purple and Yellow lines experiencing setbacks.
The prototype train for the Purple Line, manufactured by China’s CRRC, is finally en route. Shipped from Shanghai, it is expected to arrive in Chennai by year-end and reach Bengaluru’s Peenya depot by January 10th. Following extensive testing, including static and dynamic trials, approvals from relevant agencies will be sought before deployment.
Meanwhile, the Yellow Line, connecting R.V. Road to Bommasandra, faces a further delay. While a prototype train from Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) is expected in Hebbagodi depot by January 15th, the delivery of remaining train sets has pushed back the operational launch from December 2024 to January 2025. Initial delays stemmed from CRRC’s failure to establish an Indian manufacturing plant as stipulated in their contract to supply 216 metro coaches. This led to significant delays and prompted BMRCL to consider using a bank guarantee. CRRC has since partnered with Titagarh Wagons to address the shortfall. Despite this partnership, substantial delays persist.
