**Chennai, December 21, 2024** – Velachery police have arrested a 43-year-old astrologer, R. Venkatasuresh, for allegedly cheating a couple out of ₹50 lakh. Venkatesh, from Guduvanchery, promised the couple he could secure them a petrol bunk license through his contacts.
The couple, M. Kavitha (41) and her husband, met Venkatasuresh two years ago. He convinced them that their fortunes were favorable for such a venture and introduced them to a man named Vijayabaskar, who claimed connections within the central government. Vijayabaskar allegedly demanded ₹50 lakh to obtain a license from BPCL. The couple transferred the money, but neither the license nor the money was ever returned. Vijayabaskar reportedly threatened the couple when they questioned him.
Following a police complaint, Venkatasuresh was arrested. The police are currently searching for Vijayabaskar.
