Fri Dec 20 12:00:00 UTC 2024: ## ED Registers Case Against KTR in Formula-E Race Case

**Hyderabad, December 20, 2024:** The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a case against K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former minister, in connection with the Formula-E car racing case. The ED will investigate the transactions related to the Formula-E event under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), also probing potential violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

The ED’s case, registered under the ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report), is based on the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s (ACB) investigation. Along with KTR, the ED has also named the former Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar and former HUDA Chief Engineer B.L.N. Reddy in the case.

This development comes just hours after the High Court granted KTR interim relief, preventing his arrest until December 30th in the ACB’s investigation. The court adjourned the hearing on KTR’s quashing petition until December 27th, stating that the ACB can continue its investigation. The BRS party has expressed surprise at the ED’s action. The ACB had earlier named KTR as accused number 1 in its case. Further details are awaited. Meanwhile, Pakistan continues its winning streak in One Day International cricket.
