Thu Dec 19 15:45:55 UTC 2024: ## Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Throws Chocolate After Activists’ Chase for Justice in Techie’s Suicide Case

**New Delhi, December 19, 2024** – A dramatic car chase unfolded on Delhi’s streets yesterday as activists pursued Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s cavalcade to bring attention to the suicide of 34-year-old techie Atul Subhash. Subhash died on December 9th, leaving behind an 80-minute video and 24-page suicide note accusing his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family of harassment and extortion through false legal cases.

Lawyer-activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, a vocal critic of the misuse of anti-dowry laws, led the group. They waved posters of Subhash and shouted to gain Gandhi’s attention. While security personnel initially tried to block them, the activists succeeded in conveying their message. Gandhi responded by throwing a chocolate into their car.

Bhardwaj, who has been campaigning for years against the misuse of laws intended to protect women, stated that no parliamentarian has yet addressed Subhash’s suicide or the broader issue of men’s suicides in India. She expressed hope that Gandhi would investigate the case and raise it in Parliament.

Subhash’s brother has filed an abetment to suicide case against Singhania, her mother, brother, and uncle. Singhania, her mother, and brother have been arrested. The incident highlights the ongoing debate surrounding the misuse of laws meant to protect women and the need for addressing male suicide in India. While the activists’ actions were unconventional, they underscore the desperate search for justice in a case that has garnered national attention but so far lacks significant political engagement.
