**Bengaluru, India (December 16, 2024)** – The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction concluded yesterday in Bengaluru, with uncapped Indian batter Simran Shaikh creating history as the most expensive player, fetching ₹1.9 crore from the Gujarat Giants. A total of 120 players, including 91 Indian and 29 international players, were up for grabs.
The auction saw intense bidding among the five participating franchises – Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, and Gujarat Giants – each with a purse of ₹15 crore. While only 19 players were sold during the mini-auction, the total spending reached ₹9.05 crore.
Other notable sales included West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin, who was acquired by Gujarat Giants for ₹1.7 crore, and young Indian wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini, who joined the Mumbai Indians for ₹1.6 crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore secured all-rounder Prema Rawat for ₹1.2 crore.
The auction highlighted a strong interest in both established international talent and promising young Indian players.
