Sat Dec 14 21:38:42 UTC 2024: ## Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Name Removed from Boundary Stones in Andhra Pradesh
**Prakasam, Andhra Pradesh, December 14, 2024** – The new TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh has begun removing the name and image of former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy from survey boundary stones across the state. These stones, installed during Reddy’s tenure, featured his name and photograph as part of the “YSR Jagananna BhoorRaksha” (YSR Jagananna Land Protection) scheme.
The removal follows widespread farmer protests against the initiative. Farmers had voiced strong objections to the inclusion of Reddy’s name on stones marking their ancestral lands. TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu had pledged to remove Reddy’s name from the stones if his party came to power, a promise now being fulfilled.
The removal process, which started four days ago, is currently underway in 102 villages across 22 mandals in the Bapatla district. Authorities are prioritizing the task, aiming for completion within ten days. However, ongoing paddy harvests in some areas may cause slight delays.
Ballikurava mandal has seen the largest number of boundary stones affected, with approximately 50,000 stones requiring the removal of Reddy’s name. Special teams have been deployed to expedite the process. Farmers have expressed satisfaction with the removal, and are also requesting updates to land ownership documents which also featured Reddy’s image. Tahsildar Ravi Nayak and Surveyor Kishor confirmed the swift progress of the operation.
