Fri Dec 13 19:34:55 UTC 2024: ## Bihar BPSC Exam Marred by Chaos, Allegations of Leak
**Patna, Bihar, December 14, 2024** – The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 was disrupted on Friday by allegations of a question paper leak and ensuing protests at an examination center in Patna. Around 300-400 aspirants boycotted the exam, claiming the paper was circulating on social media before the test began.
The chaos at the Bapu examination center resulted in the death of an additional examination superintendent, Ram Iqbal Singh, from a cardiac arrest, and a female candidate falling unconscious. The incident occurred amidst a crowd gathered outside the center, leading to traffic blockades and confrontations. Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh intervened, and reports indicate he slapped a protestor, an action he later explained was unintentional and due to delays in question booklet distribution. The delay stemmed from a discrepancy in the number of question papers provided (192) versus the number of candidates seated (272).
BPSC chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai maintained that the exam was conducted fairly at over 900 centers across the state, with nearly five lakh candidates participating. He attributed the Patna incident to a conspiracy and assured that the examination would not be canceled. An FIR has been registered to identify those involved in disrupting the examination and looting public property (question papers). Police are investigating the allegations of a leak and reviewing CCTV footage. The Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit is also involved in the investigation. The district administration will submit a report to the BPSC.
