**KASARAGOD, KERALA –** A large-scale tsunami mock drill was conducted in Valiyaparamba, Kasaragod, on Wednesday, December 11, showcasing the coordinated response of various agencies during a disaster. Over a hundred residents were swiftly evacuated from their homes and the seashore to a designated relief camp in a simulated tsunami scenario.

Organized by the Kasaragod District Disaster Management Authority, in collaboration with the Valiyaparamba grama panchayat and INCOIS (Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services), the drill involved the police, Fire and Rescue Services, Coastal police, Revenue, Motor Vehicles, Fisheries, and Health departments. Specialized rescue teams, Apta Mitra volunteers, and the Panchayat Disaster Response Force also participated.

The exercise, which began with a 3 p.m. warning announcement, demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated evacuation and inter-agency cooperation. Sub-Collector Pratik Jain and Additional District Magistrate P. Akhil assessed the operations, while Panchayat president V.V. Sajeevan oversaw logistical arrangements. The drill served as both a practical exercise and a public education event, highlighting the importance of preparedness in the face of natural disasters.
