**Chennai, December 12, 2024** – The two-day Smart India Hackathon concluded at Sairam Engineering College in Chennai, with awards presented to winning teams by IT and Digital Services Minister P. Thiagarajan on Thursday. The hackathon, sponsored by the Union Ministry of Information Technology and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, challenged participants to develop solutions for real-world problems.
Minister Thiagarajan lauded the participants’ ingenuity and dedication, highlighting the hackathon’s vital role in fostering technological advancement and inspiring innovation among young people. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare posed a challenge focused on drug inventory and supply chain tracking, which was won by Team MediNexus from Delhi Technological University. The Ministry of Information Technology offered multiple challenges, with the following teams securing wins:
* **Online testing and monitoring of medicine quality:** Team Medisure (Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s College of Engineering, Maharashtra)
* **Online issuance of caste and other certificates:** Team Digital Dockets (Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering and Research, Maharashtra)
* **Real-time monitoring and evaluation software for Fire Department applications:** Team Agrani (Sardar Vallabhai National Institute of Technology, Gujarat)
