Fri Dec 13 08:34:04 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka’s CNG Network Expands Rapidly, Reaching 412 Stations

**Bengaluru, Karnataka – December 13, 2024** – Karnataka has made significant strides in expanding its Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) network, with 412 stations currently operational across the state as of September 30, 2024. This is part of a larger initiative by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to establish a total of 1,826 CNG stations by 2030 under the Minimum Work Programme (MWP).

According to data released by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), Bengaluru Urban leads with 77 stations, followed by Bengaluru Rural with 41, both managed by GAIL Gas Limited. Dakshina Kannada boasts 35 stations, highlighting growth in coastal areas. Other districts like Ballari, Ramanagara, and Bidar have also seen substantial development.

Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi confirmed the progress, stating that the expansion is driven by the development of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network. The PNGRB has authorized 18 Geographical Areas (GAs) for CGD network development in Karnataka, facilitating this rapid expansion. While significant progress has been made, some areas, such as the tourist destination Kodagu, currently only have two CNG stations. The government aims to bridge these gaps as the network continues to grow.
