**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – December 13, 2024** – The 8th annual DRM Cup Inter Departmental Cricket Tournament, organized by the South Central Railway Sports Association Vijayawada Division, commenced Thursday with an opening ceremony led by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil.

Fifteen departments from the South Central Railway (SCR) will compete in the 20-over white-ball league matches, culminating on December 20th. The tournament serves as a qualifier for zonal and national-level competitions. Prior to the official start, a friendly exhibition match between the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Diesel Loco Shed teams was played, featuring DRM Patil and other branch officers.

The tournament is sponsored by the State Bank of India (SBI), Railway Station Branch. DRM Patil highlighted the importance of teamwork and the tournament’s role in identifying promising young talent. He personally interacted with team captains, wishing them success. The Senior Divisional Security Officer and Divisional Sports Officer, Valleswara B. Thokala, also expressed gratitude to the SBI for their sponsorship.
