**Hyderabad, India –** Popular Telugu film star Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13th in connection with a deadly stampede that occurred during the premiere of his film, *Pushpa 2*, on December 4th. The incident resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman, Revathi, and left her eight-year-old son critically injured.
Police have filed charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt against Arjun, his security team, and the management of Sandhya Theatre, where the stampede took place. Authorities cite a lack of prior notification regarding Arjun’s attendance at the premiere as a contributing factor to the chaos. The absence of designated entry and exit points for the large crowd further exacerbated the situation, leading to the tragic loss of life.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshansh Yadav confirmed the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) and stated that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure accountability for the incident. The police claim that had they been informed of Arjun’s presence, additional security measures could have been implemented.
Arjun had previously appeared before the Telangana High Court on December 12th, seeking the cancellation of the FIR and offering a compensation of 25 lakh rupees (approximately $300,000 USD) to the victim’s family. However, this did not prevent his arrest. The investigation continues.
