Fri Dec 13 10:22:40 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Records Highest-Ever T20 Knockout Chase
**Bengaluru:** Mumbai achieved a historic victory in the Mushtaq Ali Trophy, chasing down a mammoth 222 runs set by Vidarbha to storm into the semifinals. This chase marks a new world record for the highest successful run chase in a T20 knockout match. It is also the first time a team has successfully chased down a score exceeding 220 runs in a knockout T20 match.
Shreyas Iyer’s Mumbai side got off to a blazing start thanks to Ajinkya Rahane (84 off 45) and Prithvi Shaw (49 off 26), who put on an 83-run partnership in just seven overs. Despite a slight dip in form from Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube (37 off 22) and Suryansh Shedge (36 off 12) provided the late-innings fireworks, hitting crucial boundaries in the final overs to secure a thrilling win by four wickets with four balls to spare. The team was under pressure after Rahane’s dismissal in the 16th over, needing 65 runs from 29 balls, but Shedge’s explosive performance sealed the victory.
The previous record for the highest successful run chase in a T20 knockout was 210, achieved by Karachi Dolphins against Rawalpindi Rams in the 2010 Faisal Bank T20 Cup in Pakistan. Mumbai’s win also sees them progress to the semifinals, where they await their next opponent. Suryansh Shedge’s performance has particularly garnered attention, highlighting his talent at only 21 years old.
