**Hyderabad, December 13, 2024** – Popular Telugu film actor Allu Arjun was arrested this morning in connection with a stampede at the premiere of his film *Pushpa 2: The Rule* on December 4th. The incident, which occurred at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman and serious injuries to her son.
Police filed charges against Arjun, the theatre management, and his security team following the incident. The charges include culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt. Authorities stated that they received no prior notification of the actor’s attendance at the premiere.
Arjun, who had previously sought to have his name cleared from the FIR through the Telangana High Court, was taken into custody from his home by officers from the Chikkadpally police station. Arjun’s lawyers have filed a lunch motion petition in the Telangana High Court seeking to prevent his detention until Monday. The petition will be heard later today. After giving a statement at the police station, Arjun underwent a medical checkup at Osmania Hospital. He will be presented before a magistrate later today.
