Mon Dec 09 17:11:59 UTC 2024: ## YesMadam Faces Backlash After Reportedly Firing 100+ Employees for Reporting Stress

**NEW DELHI –** Home salon services company YesMadam is facing a storm of online criticism after allegedly firing over 100 employees who reported feeling stressed in a company-wide survey. The controversial move has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling it counterproductive and lacking compassion.

A screenshot of an email, purportedly from YesMadam’s HR manager, has gone viral. The email explains that the Delhi-NCR based company conducted a survey to assess employee stress levels. It then states that, based on the results, employees who indicated “significant stress” were terminated, effective immediately.

One former employee, whose identity was withheld, expressed anger, stating, “What’s happening at YesMadam? First you conduct a random survey and then fire us overnight because we’re feeling stressed? And not just me, 100 other people have been fired too.” Anushka Dutta, a former UX copywriter, also shared the email on social media, further fueling the controversy.

While Business Today has not independently verified the authenticity of the email, the email’s contents, along with numerous online testimonies, have fueled widespread condemnation. Social media users have expressed shock and disbelief at the company’s actions, with many questioning the ethics of terminating employees for expressing their mental health concerns.

One user commented, “The most bizarre layoffs: YesMadam conducts stress survey at work. Employees who say they are stressed are fired.” Another added, “So, recently a startup named YesMadam sent out a survey to team members on how stressed they are AND? Guess what, fired the ones who had voted they are under extreme stress.”

Shitiz Dogra, Associate Director of Digital Marketing at IndiGo, also shared the screenshot on LinkedIn, posing the question: “Can an organization fire you for being stressed?” The incident has raised serious questions about workplace well-being and the responsibility of employers towards their employees’ mental health. YesMadam has yet to issue a public statement addressing the allegations.
