**Hyderabad, December 9, 2024** – Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled a 20-foot bronze statue of Telangana Talli (Mother Telangana) at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat today, marking the conclusion of the Praja Palana – Praja Vijayotsvalu celebrations and the first anniversary of Congress rule.
The ceremony, attended by several dignitaries including the Legislative Council Chairman, Speaker, and Deputy Chief Minister, saw the Chief Minister describe the statue as a milestone in Telangana’s journey towards self-identity. He criticized the previous BRS government for neglecting the state’s aspirations by failing to officially recognize the state song or install the Telangana Talli statue. Reddy stated that the statue embodies the culture and traditions of Telangana, and that he and his colleagues see their mothers in the newly installed figure.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka echoed these sentiments, highlighting the statue’s representation of the collective identity of the Telangana people. He challenged critics of the statue’s design, questioning why the previous government, in power for ten years, had failed to erect a statue during their tenure. The event also included felicitations for the state song’s composer, the statue’s designer, and architect.
