**Seoul, South Korea – December 6, 2024** – Samsung’s highly anticipated One UI 7.0 beta program, based on Android 15, is now live for the Galaxy S24 series in select regions. The update boasts a significant number of improvements, including a notable enhancement to Quick Share and several UI refinements.
One of the key features is the addition of internet-based file sharing to Quick Share. This allows users to transfer files even when a direct connection between devices is unavailable or unstable. The feature, however, needs to be manually enabled in the settings. This complements existing Quick Share functionalities like sharing via links (up to 10GB) and QR codes, the latter of which is also expanding to other Android devices thanks to Google’s updates.
Beyond Quick Share, One UI 7.0 introduces a redesigned Samsung Health app with a new “Mood Check-in” feature and a refreshed visual design. Other changes include a vertical app drawer (a long-requested feature), new widgets and animations, improved security, and enhanced customization options. However, the update also includes some minor criticisms, such as a non-removable “Secured by Knox” watermark on the app drawer. Furthermore, Samsung has already released a subsequent update to refine the Samsung Calendar app icon.
The beta program launched on December 5th, two months after Samsung’s initial teaser at its 2024 developer conference. While the initial release includes dozens of changes, some smaller improvements, such as improved Galaxy Buds integration in the media player widget, weren’t explicitly mentioned in the official changelog. The update is considered one of Samsung’s most substantial software overhauls in years.
