Fri Dec 06 15:24:53 UTC 2024: ## Man Dies After Self-Immolation Following Rejected Proposal in Karnataka

**Hubli, Karnataka – December 6, 2024** – A 25-year-old fruit vendor died after setting himself on fire in front of a friend who rejected his marriage proposal. The incident occurred Friday at the Thayavva Temple in Tadas village, Haveri district.

Praveen Betadur, from Belagali village, had reportedly been pursuing a nursing college student from Kundagol taluk. After she rejected his proposal a second time at the temple, he doused himself in petrol and ignited himself.

Despite attempts by bystanders to extinguish the flames, Betadur suffered severe burns. He was rushed to KMC-RI in Hubballi, where he succumbed to his injuries. Tadas Police Station has registered a case. Authorities urge anyone experiencing distress or suicidal thoughts to contact Arogya Sahayavani at 104.
