Sat Dec 07 00:37:38 UTC 2024: ## Lucky Escape for Rahul as India Battles Australia in Adelaide

**Adelaide, Australia** – A bizarre sequence of events marked the opening day of the second Test between India and Australia in Adelaide. Indian opener KL Rahul received two unlikely reprieves in the first session, narrowly avoiding dismissal on a no-ball and a dropped catch.

Rahul, who came to the crease after Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed on the first ball of the match, seemed destined for a duck when he edged a delivery from Scott Boland. However, the ball was called a no-ball, much to the surprise of the Australians and even Rahul himself, as replays showed no clear edge. Adding to the confusion, Virat Kohli mistakenly came out to bat, believing Rahul was out, before being sent back by the umpires.

Later in the same over, Rahul received another lifeline when Usman Khawaja dropped a straightforward catch at slip. The missed opportunity visibly frustrated Boland and the Australian team.

Despite his lucky escapes, Rahul eventually fell for 37 runs off 64 balls, becoming Mitchell Starc’s second victim of the day. Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first, making three changes to the team.
