Fri Dec 06 22:09:31 UTC 2024: ## Cash Found Under Singhvi’s Rajya Sabha Seat Sparks Controversy

**New Delhi** – Rajya Sabha MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi is embroiled in controversy after a bundle of cash was discovered under his seat in Parliament. The incident has triggered a political storm, with the BJP launching a scathing attack on the Congress party and leveling serious accusations. While Singhvi has offered a clarification, the controversy shows no signs of abating.

Singhvi’s declared net worth, as per his nomination affidavit for the Rajya Sabha elections, is ₹360 crore. This figure increased from ₹291 crore in 2021-22. His wife, Anita Singhvi, reportedly possesses assets worth ₹11.42 crore.

However, some reports claim Singhvi’s actual wealth is significantly higher, estimating it at ₹649 crore, including ₹3 crore in bank accounts and ₹368 crore invested in shares and bonds. The BJP has alleged a massive increase in Singhvi’s wealth, from ₹77.67 crore in 2006 to ₹1921 crore now – a 2374% jump.

Singhvi, a prominent lawyer with a 40-year career, reportedly charges ₹6-11 lakh per court appearance for his clients. The discovery of cash under his seat, however, has overshadowed his professional achievements and raised serious questions. This incident follows past controversies surrounding the use of cash in Indian politics, including a 1996 revelation by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Suraj Mandal alleging widespread bribery to save P.V. Narasimha Rao’s government in 1993.
